How To Look After Your Quartz Worktop

Published: October 19th, 2022

Black Eternal kitchen Quartz worktops are a popular choice because they are stylish but also practical. The durability of them is a huge selling point, as they are made to last. If you’re looking after your quartz worktop you can expect them to last you for many years. Below we have some advice that can help you keep your worktops looking as good as new.

Keep Away From Harsh Cleaning Products

Lots of cleaning products have strong chemicals in them which can affect your worktops and how they appear and feel. We recommend simply using warm water to clean them, and also standard dish soap if it is needed. However, it is not advised to use oil-based soaps. Harsh cleaning products can damage the top sealant layer which protects the stone underneath. To make it easier you can add soapy water to a spray bottle to make sure that all the surface is coated and ready to clean.

Clean Worktops Regularly

Whilst cleaning your worktops can often feel like a chore, this allows you to keep on top of messes and also helps you keep a clean and hygienic environment in your kitchen. If there are any spillages on the worktops, whether that be liquid or food, you’ll need to make sure that you’re wiping these up straight away. Although quartz worktops are highly durable, if you leave spillages on them, there’s a chance they could stain.

Avoid Very Hot Pans

Although stones such as Granite and Quartz can withstand high temperatures, you need to make sure that you aren’t leaving very hot pans on the surface for long periods of time. This isn’t to say that you can’t put a hot pan onto the worktop, but it shouldn’t be too hot, and also shouldn’t be left for too long. The extreme heat can cause damage to the stone and it’s advised to use a heat resistant rack which is specifically designed for this purpose.

Use the Right Cloth to Clean Your Worktops

It’s important to make sure that you’re not using an abrasive sponge or cloth as this can cause damage. Instead you should use a soft microfibre cloth as this is gentle enough on your worktops so that it won’t cause any scratches. Once you have cleaned your worktops with soapy water, make sure to dry them thoroughly, you can also do this with a paper towel.
